King Povenmire
King is a highly experienced training developer and Certified flight Instructor in airplanes both land and sea, and in gliders. .He is also an accomplished folk singer - having taught guitar to pay for flight lessons. Several of his aviation related songs are included at this site.

Head of Research Flight Operations at the University of Illinois Aviation Research Laboratory (1969-1973) Supervised research in pilot training research and human factors instrument and control design.Chief Training Advisor for U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Training Center (1973-1987) Advised all phases of training for helicopter and fixed wing Coast Guard aircraft. Responsible for design of simulator instructor station interface for two modern simulators. Advised Coast Guard Headquarters on Federal Aviation Regulations and Coast Guard Air Regulations. Provided annual IFR written briefing and test for all Coast Guard aviators. Consulted with several Air Stations regarding specific IFR procedure
Research Psychologist U.S. Air Force Human Resources Laboratory (1987-1990). Was instrumental in conception and design of Crew Resource Management (CRM) for the U.S. Air Force bomber and tanker crews.Systems and simulator instructor for America West Airlines A-320. (1990-1992) Developed job-aid for creating an Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) for part 121 operators. Developed operator checklists to prepare for FAA audit of 135 and 121 operations.
